The second Technical Dialogue on Transactional Sex in Humanitarian Settings and Forced Displacement took place on 22 September 2026 at the MSF premises in Geneva, bringing together researchers, practitioners, and partners from across the sector to examine emerging evidence and discuss its implications for policy and practice.
The dialogue built on the first Technical Dialogue held in November 2025 and featured presentations and discussions on conceptual clarity around transactional sex, including the threshold of violence, as well as key findings from the Liminality multi-country research. The meeting also included a Photovoice exhibition prepared by the Liminality Research Team, with special thanks to Erica Belli from Photovoice Worldwide for her partnership and support.
Participants agreed on the following next steps: to prepare a consolidated set of recommendations with explanatory text, and to revise the document on conceptual clarity to reflect the points raised during the discussion. Both documents will be circulated to participants and key partners for review, with an open invitation to join as co-authors. The team aims to submit a final publication to a peer-reviewed journal.
