22 September – 1 October 2026 | Exhibition, Médecins Sans Frontières, Geneva, Switzerland
The Liminality Research Consortium presented Imag(in)ing: Queer Health in Forced Displacement, a Photovoice exhibition exploring the health experiences and needs of queer refugees in Greece and Switzerland, hosted at the main entry hall of MSF Geneva.
Photovoice is a participatory research methodology through which community members use photography and written narratives to reflect on their lived experiences and contribute to the production of knowledge. The photographs in this exhibition respond to the question of what safe and respectful healthcare looks like, offering a form of community-generated evidence that makes visible the experiences and systemic barriers faced by queer refugees in forced displacement contexts.
The exhibition ran alongside the second Technical Dialogue on Transactional Sex in Humanitarian Settings and Forced Displacement and remained open to MSF staff and visitors through 1 October 2026.
Special thanks to Erica Belli from Photovoice Worldwide, whose guidance was instrumental in implementing the Photovoice methodology with queer migrants and refugees in Switzerland and Greece throughout the research project, and in developing the exhibition materials.
